Mbalula: Bafana must qualify for Senzo

Premiership

Mbalula made the plea at the Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain's funeral at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.

"We say to Bafana, go to Morocco to make us proud," said Mbalula.

"Fulfil Senzo's wishes of qualifying for Afcon, this is what we are asking for.

"We will never judge you as a bunch of losers, because you are a good bunch of winners at present."

Mbalula said the nation was behind the Meyiwa family in their time of grieving.

"He was a pillar of strength, it is not easy to forget him. But may you take solace from the knowledge that everyone in South Africa is with you and praying.

"Like Dr [Pirates chairman Irvin] Khoza said, God will provide."

Mbalula insisted Meyiwa's killers will face justice.

"We have every reason to be angry about Senzo's death. But justice is grinding and we will find them. We will not rest until we find them all.

Meyiwa, 27, was fatally shot in Vosloorus last Sunday, with the police since confirming the arrest and court appearance of a suspect.
