Manqele apologises to Downs

Premiership

On arriving at Moroka Swallows on a loan deal from Sundowns at the beginning of last season, Manqele said joining Sundowns was bad for his career. He said: “Honestly, I regret going there [to Sundowns].”

Now, though, Manqele is back with the Brazilians and wants a new start.

“I am happy to be back at Sundowns. I spoke to the coach on my arrival and said to him that he should give me a second chance,” he is quoted as saying on Downs' website.

“I apologised to him and the club and fans for the outbursts I made in the media sometime last season. I explained that it was all emotional, and that I am prepared to give 100 percent and fight for a place in the coach’s starting line-up. I am prepared to fix things. My teammates also welcomed me – and I look forward to making amends,” he added.
