Mosimane: We're licking our wounds

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has lamented the number of injuries that have hit his camp amid the heavy load of playing both domestic league and CAF Champions League this season.

Sundowns missed Oupa Manyisa, Thapelo Morena and Denis Onyango in their 2-0 Tshwane Derby defeat in Pretoria on Wednesday night due to an assortment of injuries.

Midfielder Lebohang Maboe has also missed training due to tonsillitis and remains doubtful for the league match against Baroka.

In a bid to avoid the heavy traffic to Limpopo due to the Easter holidays, Sundowns flew to Polokwane on Thursday to prepare for the game against Bakgaga.

Mosimane is hoping that his casualty ward will be reduced in terms of numbers before they face Baroka.

"You know where we're coming from, we're coming from war," said Mosimane.

"We still have casualties. We're still licking our wounds. We didn't change the team [that played Al Ahly] because we wanted to refresh the legs, we changed the team because of forced changes.

"Lebo [Maboe] has tonsils. Thapelo [Morena] has hamstring. Oupa [Manyisa] has ankle that is recurring and disturbing him. He did well in Cairo. Nevermind [Gaston] Sirino that is suspended but  he is injured. Denis Onyango you saw they kicked his knee at the back [in Cairo]."
