The next edition of the Champions League is set to kick off earlier than usual. It will run from December to May 2019, due to the Africa Cup of Nations which will now be played in June as compared to January in the past.
The defending champions played to a 3-3 draw with AmaZulu at King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday. Sibusiso Vilakazi scored in the final 10 minutes of the game to secure a valuable point away from home for Pitso Mosimane’s men, who are still looking for their first Absa Premiership win since beating Polokwane City on August 7.
“Now we are involved in one competition, which is the league, so we need points more than anybody else because soon we will starting our Champions League campaign,” Kekana tells KickOff.com.
“So in the games we play we need to make sure that we get the points,” he adds.
Sundowns will be back in KZN on Wednesday when they take on a Golden Arrows side that was beaten 2-1 by Highlands Park on Sunday.
