Paris Saint-Germain increased their lead at the top of Ligue 1 to 13 points after grabbing a 2-0 win over AS Monaco on Sunday evening.
A return for Kylian Mbappe following his midweek double in the UEFA Champions League picked out PSG’s stall, with Gianluigi Donnarumma, Abdou Diallo, Idrissa Gueye and Georginio Wijnaldum also included.
Monaco were first to launch a probe with three minutes played after a one-two from Sofiane Diop and Wissam Ben Yedder saw the former clatter a low shot against the post.
The Parisans proved more accurate nine minutes thereafter though as Mbappe showed composure to place a penalty-kick past their opposite number after Djibril Sidibe committed a foul.
With Niko Kovac’s men hopeful of a comeback, the Parisans bagged a second goal right on the brink of halftime when Mbappe curled into the far corner after cutting inside from a pass by Lionel Messi.

A substitution from Kovac ahead of the restart saw Ismail Jakobs replacing Caio Henrique, whilst the Parisans showed no alterations with the ascendancy in their hands.
The Parisans settled well in the second stanza until an injury on Juan Bernat had him forcefully removed from the field of play and Thilo Kehrer called on in his place.
As the balance of play remained tight minutes in the restart, the two outfits continued to stick close to each other and that inevitably led to a reduced number of scoring chances in front of goal.
This continued well into the final exchanges of the match and in the end the Parisans bagged the win, as Mbappe enjoyed a good evening after bringing up his 100th Ligue 1.
