Ranieri confident of Mahrez stay

The Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri is confident that the Algerian will still be with the club next season despite having many suitors.

Mahrez's incredible performances for the Foxes last season led them to the Premier League title last season. His 17 goals and 10 assists also saw the Algerian pick up the PFA Players' Player of the Year award and PFA Fans' Player of the Year.

His top-notch performances made a mockery of the €500k transfer fee that was paid when Leicester snapped him up from second-tier French side Le Havre, and he is now said to be a target for Europe's elite.

After managing to ward off interest from Arsenal for England striker Jamie Vardy, Ranieri believes they can to the same where Mahrez is concerned.

"I am very confident with him," the 64-year-old manager said. "He stays.

"He wants to stay here with us. He enjoys it, he is laughing. He is not a man who says, 'Oh coach, I want to go.' No, he is happy."

Despite confidence that the 25-year-old Mahrez will still be in the blue of Leicester next season it remains to be seen whether N'Golo Kante will be tempted away from the club.
