Kermit thanks Pirates for call-up

Erasmus has been called up by Shakes Mashaba as the national team prepares for two huge games against African Nations Cup qualifying Group A leaders Congo Brazzaville.

The Pirates striker hit some superb form just as Mashaba had already announced his first squad to take on Sudan and Nigeria, which caused somewhat of a stir, but the national coach has now brought Erasmus back into the fold.

"I guess all my hard work has paid off," he tells his club's official website.

"It’s been a long way back for me, but I am happy to be back and I would like to thank my Pirates teammates for helping me get here. You know as a player you don’t play alone; it’s the people around you that allow you to show your true potential.

"I am also grateful for the support I received in general from people who believed in me, that encouraged and gave me the motivation to keep on working hard.

"There is no greater honour for a player than to represent his country; and I am no different. We all want to give our best for the team and our nation.

"I’m grateful for the opportunity and I look forward to making the best of it. In terms of the mood in the camp, I think it has been great. Everyone is focused and working hard."
