Chiefs pen multi-million rand sleeve sponsorship

Kaizer Chiefs' iconic jersey will bear a new sponsor on its sleeve after the club extended a sponsorship agreement with one of the world's biggest multinational companies.

DStv Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs have extended their partnership agreement with Toyota in a lucrative deal that will see the manufacturer's logo appear on the sleeve of the famous Amakhosi jerseys.

Toyota's logo will be emblazoned on the left sleeve in variations of black, gold and white on the home, away and alternate strips, respectively.

"Toyota South Africa Motors and Kaizer Chiefs Football Club are pleased to announce that their existing partnership agreement will now include the manufacturer’s logo on the Amakhosi jersey," the club said in a statement on Wednesday.

The vehicle manufacturer has been Chiefs' official motor vehicle supplier since 2017 and had previously provided the club with 20 vehicles in order to meet their "transportation requirements" during the course of the season.

That number has now been extended to 30 vehicles as part of the new agreement, which has been described by the club as a multi-million rand deal.

"It is thrilling for us to once again align with a multinational company such as Toyota, that is so prevalently invested in the growth of sport in South Africa and the world," Kaizer Chiefs' Marketing & Commercial Director Jessica Motaung added.

"Our partnership is an example of how two brands who are trusted by their customers/supporters can come together in order to deliver value for each other and we have no doubt that this new positioning will see us continue to deliver for each other.

"We are looking forward to more exciting collaborations with team Toyota and we will again work toward taking millions of our supporters with on this journey. We will soon be announcing some great initiatives that will benefit them when they return to stadiums and on digital platforms.

"This way we will continue to 'lead the way.' Kaizer Chiefs and Toyota will take some key learnings from the last five years and enhance Amakhosi supporters' experience and engage for the duration of the partnership."
