Khune banking on new signings

Chiefs, who are six points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns midway through 2017/18, are hoping to avoid a hat-trick of barren campaigns under coach Steve Komphela.

Komphela's men will resume their bid for glory when they visit Tshwane giants SuperSport United at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday (18h00).

The Glamour Boys have been boosted by the big-name signings of Siphelele Ntshangase, Kabelo Mahlasela and Leonardo Castro, while they have also just promoted Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya from their development ranks.

“We owe it to our supporters who have not been too happy over the last two seasons,” Khune told the club's website.

“Supporters in Nelspruit and surrounds always attend matches in great numbers whenever we are there. We expect them to come out again on Saturday in their gold and black colours.”

He continued: “The second half of the season is tough but we are ready. The club has signed some talented players and we hope their contribution will contribute towards the team winning silverware this season.

“We are happy to be heading back to Mpumalanga province as we have we have not been there yet this season. We know that SuperSport United are formidable opponents but the lads have been working hard and we are confident that we give our supporters a reason to cheer.”
