Chiefs star wins PSL Goal of the Month

Kaizer Chiefs star Reeve Frosler has won the PSL Goal of the Month award for February/March following his sensational effort against Soweto Derby rivals Orlando Pirates.

Frosler has become the third Amakhosi player to win a PSL Goal of the Month award this season after the 24-year-old's long-range effort in last month's Soweto Derby earned him the accolade for the February / March.

"It feels nice and special to win an award for a goal that came in a game like this, a Soweto Derby. It feels so much more significant to me given the game and the stage," Frosler said upon winning the award.

"I saw the ball played to Khama [Billiat] and I thought let me just go forward. It came to Bernard [Parker], he set me up and when I struck the ball, all I thought was hit through the ball and get it on target.

"I hit through the ball, it was on target and as soon as I hit it I thought the keeper had the ball, but then I saw he did not get a strong hand to it and I thought 'Yoh! it went in!'"

Frosler follows in the footsteps of teammates Keagan Dolly and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo who won previous editions of the award, and all three will be in the running for the prestigious PSL Goal of the Season award at the end of the campaign.

He saw off competition from Mamelodi Sundowns' Haashim Domingo, Khuliso Mudau and Lyle Lakay, Maritzburg United's Keegan Ritchie and Friday Samu, as well as efforts from Goodman Mosele, Knox Mutizwa, Khanyiso Mayo and Vusimuzi Mncube.

Elsewhere, Royal AM walked away as the month's biggest winners, with John Maduka claiming the Coach of the Month award and Mxolisi Macuphu walking away with the coveted Player of the Month crown.
