Kaizer Chiefs manager Ernst Middendorp has explained why he substituted Reeve Frosler against Black Leopards.
Frosler was handed his Chiefs debut four months after signing for the club, and he impressed in a wing-back role on the left flank.
However, Middendorp opted to withdraw the younger defender just before the hour mark, with Philani Zulu taking his place.
“This is something like you’re having pre-season. Individual periodisation. Let’s take it from this side. A player [Reeve Frosler] who has not played for a long time. He trained with us but in this moment you must see," Middendorp told SuperSport TV.
“He can’t go 15 miles an hour. He was probably used to ten miles an hour, now he has come to a high level and you have watch him.
“The same with Kabelo [Mahlasela], a good impact but you could see 60 minutes, 45 minutes then you have to make it clear that a change has to come. Otherwise an injury or a mistake or something will come. This is a little bit out of coaching.”
