Official: Chiefs assistants confirmed

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the appointment of Dillon Sheppard and Arthur Zwane as assistant coaches to Gavin Hunt.

Hunt was appointed as Chiefs' successor to Ernst Middendorp on Thursday following his departure from Bidvest Wits, who were sold to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.

The four-time league-winning coach has now roped in 41-year-old Sheppard, who served under Hunt as a player and a coach at Wits for the past six years.

The former Bafana Bafana winger retired in 2017 and moved into coaching with The Clever Boys' under-17 team, before moving up into the MultiChoice Diski Challenge team and doubling up as first-team second-assistant.

'Sheppy' very nearly clinched the MDC title last season but the Covid-19 pandemic threw a spanner in the works when the campaign was cancelled with just two rounds of fixtures remaining.

Meanwhile, Zwane moves up to the first team following his time with Amakhosi's reserve side, where he has groomed several stars that have graduated to the senior setup in recent years.

'10111' also led the club to their maiden MultiChoice Diski Shield title back in 2018, and earned himself a seat on the Bafana Bafana bench alongside head coach Molefi Ntseki last year.
