Khune hurt his hip in the 5-3 penalties shootout defeat to SuperSport United in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Chiefs coach Steve Komphela is keeping a close eye on Khune's progress, as Brilliant Khuzwayo is out for the season with an ankle injury, leaving newly-signed keeper Bruce Bvuma, Brylon Lee Petersen and Luthando Sixhaso in reserve.

"I don’t know Itu's status," said Komphela.

"He fell badly on his hip during the first penalty and apparently there was a bone bruised.

"We have to monitor and check that," he added.
