Komphela: Chiefs cracking on

Premiership

Chiefs' championship hopes took severe strain after conceding a last-gasp equaliser in a 2-2 draw with SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium over the weekend.

Amakhosi, with 46 points from 26 matches, are four points shy of log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have two games in hand.

Komphela was naturally disappointed to drop points at this stage of the season but maintains his charges will not take their foot off the pedal in their remaining four games.

“Once more the performance was great,” Komphela is quoted as saying on his club's website. “We gave it away in the last minute.  I thought we should have wrapped it up earlier in the game. We missed good chances.

“Performance-wise we did well. Our defense was questionable at the end. We gave away easy goals. Even if you go back up to Baroka match, we let their player run a distance to get into the box. And, also look at the goals against us, most were deflections.”

He added: “There’s still everything to play for. We must just grab our chances. We need to concentrate more. Check how we lost against Cape Town City, last kick of the match. We will keep playing until the end.”

The Glamour Boys next host top-eight hopefuls Golden Arrows at FNB Stadium on Saturday (20h15).
