Chiefs failed to win their first five league matches of the season, but have rebounded with three straight victories to rise to third on the table with 13 points from eight games - a point behind pace-setting rivals Orlando Pirates.
Solinas feels his late appointment in the pre-season was a factor in their sluggish start.
“[In] football [you] need time to improve and you need a lot of training sessions to fix the mistakes to improve,” said the Italian.
“We didn’t start well because we didn’t have the pre-season together and we played a lot of games in a short time and there was not time for training. But that’s not an excuse, this is the reality.
“The instrument for improvement is the training session. If you play, play, play and no training, [there is] not time to fix the mistake and no time to understand the philosophy.
“But I’m very happy and I always believe in this guys because I saw the effort, the concentration. The fatigue they put in the training session. When the team prepares for the game in the manner that these boys prepare for the game, I’m optimistic because they prepared for the game very well.
“Concentration in the training session. We only need the time for understanding the manner to play and also understand the characteristics of every player.”
Solinas added that they won’t get carried away by their recent victories as he believes they can still do better.
“Now we need to continue to improve because the three wins is nothing for Kaizer Chiefs. This is normal for the club. So we need to keep the feet on the ground and continue to improve and work hard.
“I’m very happy because I can’t complain with anyone. Every player in the training sessions is unbelievable.”
