Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp felt midfielder Andriamirado Andrianarimanana put out a superb display against Black Leopards and deserved the Man of the Match accolade.
Andrianarimanana, otherwise simply known as ‘Dax’, managed his third consecutive start under Middendorp when Chiefs were held to a 1-1 draw away to Leopards on Saturday afternoon.
The Madagascan international also marked his appearance with a maiden goal for the club, since joining at the start of the season from Fosa Juniors in his homeland.
But more than his goal, the 27-year-old worked his socks off and was arguably Amakhosi’s best player on the park, prompting his club mentor to comment on his snubbing for individual recognition in favour of Lidoda Duvha’s goal scorer Lefa Hlongwane.
“Let’s say ‘Dax’ deserved to be man of the match, but that’s probably an objective announcement,” said Middendorp.
“To get to my subjective announcement, I saw definitely a very qualified performance from Dax – from the start until the end, and knowing he’s probably coming to the party now only, since our Nedbank Cup game against Cape Town City two week ago.
“How he’s presenting himself more and more is very impressive and it’s very good for us.”
