Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana was delighted with the team's response in the Tshwane derby after the defeat to Orlando Pirates.
Goals from Themba Zwane and Thapelo Morena guided Sundowns to a 2-1 win over cross-town rivals SuperSport United on Sunday.
"It was important for us to come here and give a performance really because midweek we didn't get the points we wanted, ja we came here and won the match, that's what is important for the club, for us and the supporters, who always come in numbers to support the team," Kekana told SuperSport TV after receiving his Man of the Match award.
"I was happy to see Thapelo [Morena] getting at the end of it because these are the balls we normally train and I was happy to see it coming [off] in a match like this where we needed it the most."
The Sundowns skipper added that they will have to deal with playing catch-up in the Absa Premiership, as they will be in CAF Champions League action for the next two weeks.
"That's the nature of the position we put ourselves in as a team like Mamelodi Sundowns, we want to play these matches and I'm sure we have grown as a club to play these matches, it's important to continue playing these matches
"We're going to Angola on Tuesday and it will be a very challenging match for us because we're playing against a team that wants to qualify on the group so, we're looking forward to the match and we're just excited to play these matches," he said.
