Highlands exercise Heugh option

Highlands Park have exercised their option on their current number one goalkeeper Marlon Heugh.

The 28-year-old, who would have seen his contract expire at the end of this season, has had a one-year option exercised.

With fellow goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini still out with a shoulder injury, Heugh has featured 13 times in all competitions for the Lions of the North.

Without revealing too much, the club's co-director and technical director Larry Brookstone confirmed the news to KickOff.com.

"His contract has been extended already, we've taken up the option six months ago," Brookstone said.

Highlands are eighth on the Absa Premiership table with 34 points from 24 matches and will be looking to use their remaining matches to consolidate their top-eight spot.
