Hunt: Defence has been our weakness

Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt admits their poor defence and home record this season could cost them the league title.

The Students overcame in-form Chippa United last Friday night at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, winning 1-0 to keep them in the running for a second league title in three seasons.

But after the game Hunt said if it was not for their poor home record they would be sitting comfortably on top of the log.

"We've won the league away from home. If we could compare the two, we've been brilliant away and let ourselves down at home. Defending has also been our weakness, lack of concentration, it has been one of our worst seasons," he said.

The title race is heating up with Orlando Pirates leading the pack at the moment, and Hunt believes Mamelodi Sundowns have a chance to catch them, judging by experience.

"About the league, we can only get to 56 points and I've won the league with 54 points. Pirates and Sundowns have a huge chance but I think Downs have more upper hand," he added.

The former SuperSport United coach also cast doubt on Daren Keet's future at the club.

"I'm also looking at next season, about Keet I wouldn't know right now, I don't know what will happen," he admitted.
