With four games remaining, league leaders Wits have the podium in sight after opening up a three-point cushion over defending champions and second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns following last night's win over Orlando Pirates.
The Students will now call upon Hunt’s championship-winning experience and impressive home record to wrap up the crown.
Hunt has thrice won the domestic championship before, completing an unprecedented treble of league crowns with SuperSport United between 2008 and 2010, and has currently guided Wits to eight wins in their last nine home games.
However, the veteran tactician knows his side are in for a tough battle over the next month if they are to eventually lift the league trophy.
“We will have to grind our way because when you get to this stage of the season everybody is putting in their shift,” the coach said.
“We have four games left and we have to take care of every single game left, keep clean sheets and try to give ourselves something to work from. If you keep clean sheets you have a chance with every game.
“We have a hard run in. I don’t think there is any sequence but how we approach the game, what the attitude is like and what the desire like on the day. That is what football is all about. You not going to see prettiness but determination and hopefully good attitude,” he says.
Wits have won all of their last three games without conceding a single goal and next face Maritzburg United at their favoured compact venue of the Bidvest Stadium on Sunday.
“We have to worry about Maritzburg now and then the next game,” Hunt continued. “We have to look at Maritzburg, who I am sure will give us a different problem, and we will approach it right and make sure we are concentrating since we are playing in every three days now.
“That is the way it should be in football (in reference to the home record). You should try and take care of the home games. We have a beautiful pitch here and good atmosphere with people on top of the ground and we like to play here. We are not bad away from home too but we have to try and keep everybody on the pitch. We have to play according to the opposition and what we will get against them.”
