Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt is fully aware of the expectations at the club and has discussed their target for the current DStv Premiership season.
Chiefs endured a rather troubled start to the 2020/21 season upon the arrival of Hunt, which saw them languishing near the relegation zone just three weeks ago.
Currently holding onto eighth spot by a thread, following their recent Soweto Derby defeat to Orlando Pirates, Amakhosi look way off from challenging for the league title this season.
Asked whether this could be seen as foundation-setting phase for the four-time championship winning tactician, he conceded that such plans are not suitable for the Soweto giants but added that they will have to make the most under their transfer ban.
"At a club like Kaizer Chiefs, you can't be building for the future, that's what I believe. But we're in the situation we're in," Hunt told reporters.
"If you take our points now and double it, you're not going to win the league, you know that. So, that's going to be [difficult]; we're going to have to do the best we can.
"So, right now, it's one game at a time; try and get through the next game; try and reset our goals and that's all I can do in terms of [this season] – we all know the situation.
"So I believe in the players we've got but they certainly need to do better, there's no doubt about it. And everybody's in the shop window for me.
"They need to put their hands up and show that they want to play. Right now, we've just got to go one game at a time."
