The three-time league winning coach made no bones about his feelings after their 1-1 draw against Cape Town City at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday evening.
According to Hunt, the Clever Boys are not under pressure to lift their maiden top flight title but have put themselves in such a good position that the last thing they want is to have regrets come the end of the season.
"I think we are under no pressure as we shouldn’t be winning the league," Hunt told reporters after the match.
"Sundowns should win the league, Chiefs should win the league, those teams [are favourites], you know what I’m saying?
"I don’t think we’re under pressure, it’s just that we’ve put ourselves in such a good position that we don’t want to play and have regrets."
The former SuperSport United mentor admitted his side squandered a good opportunity to improve their log standing, having surrendered their lead late on, and feels it's time to do whatever necessary to get positive results.
"We’ve got regrets tonight and that’s the disappointing part as we shouldn’t have regrets," he added. "Play badly or do what we got to do and get a result.
"We should have got a [positive] result. If we had come back [from 1-0 down] to 1-1, I would have said, 'mmm, okay,' but we had [control of] the game, you know.
"They came at us, they were at home and they bombarded us – the normal story. But when we played them in Jo’burg in could have been 6-2, 6-3, and they beat us 3-2 because we came at them and they countered.
"So, we had to do what we had to do. Overall it was disappointing [to come away with a point] as I felt we should have closed it out."
The Braamfontein-based side arguably have the toughest run in, with their remaining eight games including the 'big three', and given their long list of injuries to key players, Hunt is also forced to throw his young chargers into the deep end.
Though he has also conceded that he is yearning to find out if his youngsters have the mental capacity to see out the campaign on a strong note.
“Well, I’ll certainly learn about a few in the next couple weeks," he said. "I learnt about one or two tonight, that’s for sure.
"Again, you know, we need a little bit of an x-factor here and there, certainly one or two [players] are not giving it to us, but I’ll commend the team.
"They were good tonight, they battled away, dug their ground and they made a stupid error [conceding from a set-piece] – it’s crazy!"
