Sundowns lose two major players

Premiership

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane will be forced to make changes to his squad and style of play when his team visits Baroka tonight.

Sundowns have come back from a trip to Port Elizabeth where they scraped past Chippa United via penalties in the Telkom Knockout on Sunday, and three days later find themselves in Polokwane.

The Brazilians are expected to miss the services of Gaston Sirino and Phakamani Mahlambi for the game against Bakgaga after they picked up injuries against Chippa.

Influential midfielder Themba Zwane is also out nursing a hamstring injury.

Mosimane says his team could change the way they play at Peter Mokaba stadium tonight.

"Sundowns always respond to emotions. The game in Baroka will be much better. Even though the win against Chippa United was not the 5-0 against AmaZulu, it was a tough one," said Mosimane.

"We have to make changes. From Port Elizabeth to Polokwane now in three days time, it's a big one, it's a tough one. The game in Polokwane is a difficult one for us because we have a game in hand that we have to win. That one also we must hustle and make sure we win.

"It's not important how you win it and to play the Sundowns way when you have Themba Zwane out, Gaston Sirino out, Phakamani Mahlambi out. We have to hustle and grind [out the results]," he added.

Mosimane is expected to recall striker Mauricio Affonso after he made his first start against Chippa.

The Uruguayan has brought a different dimension to the way Sundowns can play and was seen bringing a lot of crosses into the box to accommodate his height and strength during the game against the Chilli Boys.
