Amakhosi are seventh on the log with six matches remaining and can only finish on 54 points, while leaders Mamelodi Sundowns need only 11 points to reach 55 points.
"I'm not too confident... at the moment I think we cannot go too far," Middendorp said.
"I said before the game, it's fine we need experience... and you can imagine new players coming in, where's Dax from, young players Happy Mashiane, [Nkosingiphile] Ngcobo, who is [Siphosakhe] Ntiya-Ntiya? I can see how [Khama] Billiat, I can see how Bernard Parker gets challenged.
"It's something that we are doing at the moment... but we cannot be judged at the moment, we have not had pre-season. I cannot talk about other players in addition, but anybody will be out, and anybody will be in."
Middendorp went on to suggest that he wants to see more dedication and commitment from some of the players in his squad.
"We are capable of achieving in the moment but we are not hundred percent happy with some players. It's not a secret being part of the team, but they [some players] are not here today and we have to talk, find out how far we can go looking forward into the next season, but this is a normal process," he continued.
"Attitude is very important for each and every body. Let me say the attitude needs to be shown every day, you show it Monday, you show it Tuesday, you show it Wednesday, you show it Thursday, you show it Friday, you show it Saturday and then you play your Sunday like today.
"When you come to the training session on Monday you do it a little bit, you push yourself on Tuesday to the maximum and on Wednesday or Thursday you just avoid and are not doing anything... what do you want with these type of players? You cannot perform in the weekend, and it's not because the coach does not like me anymore... and it puts the player every day in the spotlight.
"You must know even if we wouldn't like to see it, we will see it, but basically there is a lot of challenge on everybody's shoulder. It doesn't matter which name is put on the jersey on the back, it's very good for the harmony and for the achievement."
