Gallants bring Swallows back to earth

Swallows FC failed to make it back-to-back wins as they went down 1-0 to Marumo Gallants FC in the DStv Premiership on Saturday afternoon.

Kerr introduced Lehlogonolo Matlou back in the line-up following his suspension, as Gallants showed one change in Celimpilo Ngema following their midweek win over Sekhukhune United.

Swallows, who were buoyed by their win during the week against Baroka FC, looked for a bright start ten minutes in through Grant Margeman but he was smothered by Washington Arubi.

The tie began to even up following the midway period of the contest though the Dube Birds continued to see the majority of openings with the visitors on guard.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa looked for a bit of momentum following the closing periods of the first half, but the Dube Birds still enjoyed the lion share of play as the half concluded goalless.

Swallows unleashed a triple substitution albeit an offensive one in Thabo Mosadi, Tumelo Khutlang and Ruzaigh Gamildien eight minutes following the halftime period.

The contest remained tightly nipped minutes into the restart, as half-chances from either of the sides came to be the order of the day in Dobsonville.

With the compressed nature continuing, Dan Malesela’s men grabbed the lead in the closing five minutes courtesy of a smart finish from Sere Dion.

The Dube Birds looked for a quick reply, but the host remained in control to register back-to-back wins whilst dented the host’ survival hopes.
