Marumo Gallants got their first home win of the DStv Premiership season after defeating TS Galaxy 3-1 on Wednesday evening.
The hosts were once again without head coach Dan Malesela who tested positive for Covid-19 over the weekend.
The opening stages were played at a lively pace, but the Rockets were dealt a blow after 20 minutes when Igor Makitan was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Lerato Lamola.
The numbers game began to show as Gallants took the lead in the 33rd minute, with Lehlohonolo Nonyane nodding home a free-kick from Joseph Malongoane.
Six minutes later, the hosts doubled their lead as Sibusiso Kumalo slotted home from inside the six-yard box after Galaxy failed to deal with Lebohang Mabotja's cross.
With the Rockets trailing by two goals coach Sead Ramovic made a triple change at the start of the second half by introducing Ethan Brooks, Wayde Lekay and MacBeth Mahlangu.
The changes did not have the desired effect in the second stanza though, as the visitors struggled to carve out openings and fell behind further on 84 minutes as Letsie Koapeng made it 3-0 with a neat finish.
There was a shinning light for Lekay, who bagged a superb consolation strike with the final kick of the game as Gallants held on for their second win of the campaign.
