Deadly clashes in Cairo

The Egyptian interior ministery said the violence erupted when fans tried to force their way into a stadium to watch a game against Enbi.

Police used tear gas to disperse the crowd at the army-owned venue in the northeast of the city.

In February 2012, a riot broke out at a match in Port Said, where Al-Masry fans attacked Cairo's Al-Ahly supporters with an assortment of weapons.

At least 72 Al-Ahly supporters were killed and more than 500 people injured, prompting the interim Egyptian government to ban domestic football for two years.
