'Extra pride at stake against Sundowns'

WIN tickets to Chiefs v Sundowns

Amakhosi will welcome the PSL and African champions to the FNB Stadium this weekend looking to keep the pressure on at the top of the table, where Chiefs find themselves in fourth place, just three points off the summit.

Sundowns, meanwhile, sit just two points behind Chiefs but with four games in hand over the Glamour Boys, providing all the inspiration the teams need to give it their all at Soccer City.

And, speaking ahead of the epic encounter, Motaung told Chiefs' official website: “As everybody knows, this is a game like no other.

"Playing against Sundowns means there is extra pride at stake and there is no greater feeling than coming out on top against the league champions. The whole of the Kaizer Chiefs family will be out in force from early on Saturday to support the players in their quest for victory.”

Meanwhile, Kannemeyer - who played for both Chiefs and Sundowns - believes home-ground advantage may just prove the difference when the two titans of South African football lock horns.

The former left-back said: “The Chiefs supporters will be the deciding factor. I expect them to come to the game in huge numbers, creating a fantastic vibe for the Amakhosi players to thrive in."

He continued: “With Chiefs, wherever you play, in Durban, Cape Town or Mbombela, the fans will always be there in numbers to support the team.

"Amakhosi never play an away game. That’s a bit different for Sundowns. They get great support in Tshwane, but in, for example, Cape Town it gets a bit quiet.”
