Klate: Aces a must-win

The Buccaneers beat Free State Stars in their previous outing, with Klate scoring the only goal of the game.

Now the former SuperSport United winger has shifted his focus to tonight’s game against Mpumalanga Black Aces, knowing that a win is non-negotiable.

“The games are coming thick and fast; there is no time to relax,” he tells Pirates’ official website.

“The match against Aces will be tough; they are a very good side especially at home. They always up their game and do well when playing against us. I have no doubt that their recent victory against Swallows over the weekend will motivate them even more.”

Klate adds: “We are second on the log table, but we still trail log leaders Chiefs by a big margin; we cannot afford to drop any more points.

“All games which we play in the League are important … be it against a so-called small team or a so-called big team; all teams in the League offer the same number of points for a win.

“The coach is always pushing us to get it through our minds that these are the most difficult matches because our opposition will play their socks off to register a win against a team like Pirates, while we have to live up to expectation and win these games.

“We are second on the log and all we need to do for now is to make sure we keep collecting the three points.”

Pirates are second in the log standings with 14 points after eight games - 10 behind Chiefs.
