Cape Town City are looking to reinforce their defensive department following an injury to left-back Terrence Mashego.

Mashego underwent surgery on a knee injury during Bafana Bafana duty that will likely see him sidelined for six weeks.

City are now looking to reinforce their left flank with Stellenbosch FC left-back Marc Van Heerden.

Former midfielder Ayanda Patosi has also been spotted at the club sparking transfer rumours.

Both players have started training with City as the Cape side embarks on its first CAF Champions League campaign next season.

"We are a little bit thin at left-back following the injury to Mashego. Van Heerden could be the best option to help reinforce our defence this coming season," said a Cape Town City official.

"Patosi is more like our son. He is just training with us for now, we will take it from there."
