Cape Town City boss John Comitis has ruled out star defender Nathan Fasika being sold to a local rival as champions Mamelodi Sundowns have shown reported interest.

Fasika joined City on a five-year deal from Congosele side FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo in 2021 and is now garnering much interest in his services.

The 23-year-old defender is being linked with perennial champions Mamelodi Sundowns who are rumoured to be eyeing making a bid.

"Fasika is too good to play in South Africa," Comitis tells KickOff.

"He deserves to play in Europe.

"I am not going to listen to any mediocre offers. He is staying with us. He is going to help us in Africa next season as well."

Cape Town City are also looking at adding former Orlando Pirates defender Marc van Heerden to bolster their squad for next season.
