Chippa land Chipeta, chase Katongo

Chipeta – who stood firm for the Warriors in central defence during the CHAN finals earlier this year – currently turns out for Hwange in his homeland.

“We have completed the signing of three players and one of them is the defender from Zimbabwe. He has signed a two-year deal,” says Chippa CEO, Peter Koutroulis.

Regarding Katongo, he says: “We are interested in Chris Katongo because he is an experienced striker and we definitely need his experience.

“He is one of the strikers that I believe he still has a few years remaining in him and can still score goals. We are interested in him and we are busy with his manager in England and very soon we will announce if we have signed him or not. It is not a done deal as yet.

“We are in the race to sign him but at the end of the day you must remember that it is also about the money.”

Katongo will become a free agent at the end of the month after spending the latter part of last season at Golden Arrows.
