Moloi: Wits might play the Hellenic style

The Chilli Boys beat Wits 2-0 at Bidvest Stadium in November last year, thanks to a brilliant brace from second half substitute Samuel Julies, who is now at Ajax Cape Town.

But after registering their first victory since October last year when they defeated SuperSport United 2-0 on Wednesday, Wits will no doubt provide a different challenge at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday (15h30).

The former Supersport United coach has since beefed up his squad by bringing in Lehlohonolo Majoro from Cape Town City and former Orlando Pirates hardman Edwin Gyimah, while Sifiso Myeni has returned early from a loan spell at SuperSport United.

Against Matsatsantsa on Wednesday, Wits were dominant with Gyimah doing well as the anchorman in front of the back four, while captain Thulani Hlatshwayo gave a good shift as a right back.

Hlatshwayo, however looks set to return to central defence alongside Buhle Mkhwanazi as Bongani Khumalo earned himself a yellow card and is therefore suspended for Sunday’s meeting.

“It will be a difficult game and we know Gavin won't come lying down. He recalled a lot of his players and he's trying to get the team that gave him the championship last season, and he's trying to get the team that beat Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 final,” said Moloi.

“It won't be the same Wits we played in Milpark. It’s going to be a different kettle of fish and we know that there's only one way he knows how to play. He might employ the Hellenic style of play [of playing route one] because he was at Hellenic and that is the style of play that a lot of our players find difficult to deal with.”

''For now I don’t know what type of style is he going to implement. So it’s going to be a very difficult game as you know that we are playing at NMD [Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium].”

Moloi says he would have preferred to play at Sisa Dukashe Stadium.

“I would've loved to take him [Hunt] to East London where it’s hot, the grass is difficult to play on. We enjoy that grass, so I'd love to take him there but NMD is a World Cup Stadium and it suits anybody.”
