Umoya sign former Pirates defender

Premiership

Cape Umoya United have continued to strengthen after enlisting the services of former Orlando Pirates defender Tshepo Gumede.

The 29-year-old has joined another ex-Buccaneer at Umoya after Mark Mayambela also signed for the GladAfrica Championship side this week.

Both players have joined Umoya as free agents after completing last season without clubs.

The Cape Town-based outfit are looking forward to starting the new campaign on a high note as they bid to gain promotion to the DStv Premiership next season.

"Cape Umoya has signed Tshepo Gumede on a short-term contract. They are not done and are expected to make more signings very soon," a source at the club tells KickOff.com.

Umoya travel to Kabokweni Stadium on Saturday to take on TS Sporting in their first match of the 2020/21 GladAfrica Championship season.
