Mokeke braced for desperate Ea Lla Koto

“We’re expecting a tough match that’s for sure,” Mokeke tells ahead of the 20h00 kick-off. “We know they’ll be desperate for points as they will be looking to get out of the relegation zone.

“They’ve shown this season that they can upset any team in the league. So, we need to be at our best and fully focused.”

The 28-year-old former Ajax Cape Town player been in fine form since joining City from SuperSport United in August, and gave credit to coach Eric Tinkler for helping him settle on his return to the Mother City.

“My good form this season is also thanks to the coach, you know. The coach motivates us a lot and reminds us daily that he has belief in our ability as individual players and as a team. He gives us the confidence to go out and achieve things. It’s really great playing for a coach like that.

“Since I came from my fractured shin injury which kept me out for a year, I’ve learnt a lot on the sidelines. I’ve learnt how to deal with the harsh reality of being injured for so long. I’m in a very good space and I’m enjoying my soccer.”

The Citizens suffered a 1-0 loss to Maritzburg United on Monday, which leaves them five points shy of log leaders Bidvest Wits with four matches remaining. Naturally Mokeke is determined to help his side return to winning ways.

“More importantly, we as a team should try and get back to winning ways after the defeat in our previous game. It’s important to push the other title contenders to the last.”
