Bafana Bafana right-back Thami Mkhize was the big winner at the Cape Town City awards last night.
The skipper, who has been nominated for the Absa Premiership defender of the season award, was awarded with the player and players’ player of the season awards.
Highly rated by his coach Benni McCarthy, Mkhize played 34 matches in all competitions. He scored three goals and contributed with as many assists.
Mkhize, who looks set to be included in Stuart Baxter Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, said: "I have learned that to be trusted of being a captain comes with responsibility. And I grateful to the fellow teammates, supporters even when we are not doing well they always been with us"
Gift Links won the most improved player of the season, while Zukhile Kewuti was named rookie of the season.
The awards also gave City another chance to honour the retired Teko Modise, who called time on his career last week and played his final match against Black Leopards over the weekend.
