Ngoma itching for game-time

The Bafana Bafana international last featured for the Citizens in a 4-2 league defeat to Polokwane City in May last season, before suffering a recurring knee injury on COSAFA Cup duty with South Africa in June.

The 28-year-old started light training early last month and could feature in tonight's clash with log leaders Baroka at Cape Town Stadium (18h00).

"Yes, I’m very much excited to be back," Ngoma tells "It feels good to be back with the boys training and I’m looking forward to my first game whenever I get the chance.

"I don’t think there’s also pressure on me to perform. The coach and the technical team has spoken to me saying that they don’t want to put a lot of pressure on me to come back and fire from the first game. Obviously for me I’ll be working on my match fitness and the coach understands that.

"The minutes I get I would appreciate as long as I get game-time. A goal or an assist will be a bonus," says the diminutive winger.

Ngoma expects a test against Bakgaga, who ended City's Telkom Knockout title defence with a 1-0 scoreline in the quarter-finals on October 29.

"They play with freedom and they have the type of coach that allows them to do whatever they want on the field as long as it’s positive for the team. You can see how they have been playing lately. They got the confidence and are on a high.

"But this is also another opportunity for us to kick on as there’s no international break coming up and we won’t have a lot of disruptions.

"I think our preparations have gone well thus far. The international break also helped us. If we win we can kick on and finish on a high before the Christmas break."
