Chiefs stated on their website: "Kaizer Chiefs in its entirety would like to congratulate Orlando Pirates for reaching the final of the CAF Championship."

Amakhosi coach Stuart Baxter added: "Congratulations to Roger de Sa and his players. Despite the rivalry between Chiefs and Pirates, we will not get worse if they got good results nor will we get better if they lost.

"We would like to unreservedly express our congratulations to them. We wish them all of the best when they face Al Ahly SC of Egypt in the two-legged final in November."

If Bucs win the Champions League, South Africa will have two representatives – Pirates and Premiership holders Chiefs - in next year’s competition.

The two Soweto giants will meet in a League tie at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
