Grobler bags treble at club awards


SuperSport United striker Bradley Grobler walked away the big winner as the club honoured the major role players from their 2019/20 Absa Premiership campaign.

SuperSport enjoyed yet another fruitful season as they walked away MTN8 winners last season, while also finishing in fifth position on the league table.

The Tshwane outfit are currently in Polokwane for their pre-season preparations for 2020/21, which has been earmaked to kick off on October 17.

However, Matsatsantsa on Thursday evening paid tribute to some of the stand-out individuals, with Grobler taking away the main prizes at their club awards.

The 32-year-old enjoyed his best-ever season in the PSL as he managed 34 appearances across all competitions, contributing 16 goals and four assists.

This earned him a treble on the night including Player of the Season, Top Goalscorer and the Chairman's Award.

Dynamic midfield duo Teboho Mokoena and Sipho Mbule also walked away with prizes of their own after establishing a formidable partnership in the centre of the park.

23-year-old Mokoena bagged the Young Player of the Season as he registed three goals and six assists in 36 appearances, while 22-year-old Mbule picked up the Player's Player of the Season for his breakout season with 35 appearances, three goals and one assist to his name.

The CEO's Award, otherwise known as the Thomas Madigage Award in honour of the club's late former player and assistant coach, went to first-team physiotherpaist Bafana Sihlali.
