24 - Alain Amougou

The French-born Cameroon international introduced himself to domestic football in grand fashion, slamming 15 goals in his debut season (1999-2000) after having arrived from the most unlikely of places – The Reunion Islands where he had been playing for St Louisienne.

His goals will also be remembered for aiding the fight towards keeping the League title at Chloorkop for the third year running as he provided an alternative goal source to what was already provided by Daniel Mudau and Isaac Shai.

Though his next two years at Chloorkop weren’t as productive due to injuries and plenty other issues, the dreadlocked forward had already made a bold statement that if given a chance in the box his left foot can do the damage.

He held up the ball well and was never fancy though he had a tendency to be a pedestrian on the field.

Just as he was approaching his 30th birthday he then won himself a move to Ukraine in 2002.

Amougou showed glimpses that he could have done a better job had he come to the PSL much younger and left South Africa with a decent strike rate.
