Former Orlando Pirates star Bennett Chenene believes there is only two Kaizer Chiefs players that could stop the Buccaneers from claiming all three points in today’s Soweto Derby.
The two Soweto giants will face each other at FNB Stadium in the DStv Premiership for the first time this season at 15:30 this afternoon.
Despite having endured a bad start to the 2020/21 campaign, Amakhosi have strung together an unbeaten run in their last five league games.
But Chenene insists that without a good performance from youngsters Happy Mashiane and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Gavin Hunt’s charges are nowhere near their biggest rivals in terms of quality and performance.
“Eish, I wonder when will the schools re-open again [laughs]. You see these two 'School boys' from Chiefs are a problem my man,” Chenene tells KickOff.com.
“Can the schools be re-opened already please? Yes, they are the only threat there but Pirates will still win again, if they can just close down both of them then they will win.
“Chiefs is dead man. These two [Mashiane and Ngcobo] are the only problems there and they also lack experience, because the Derby is a big game you see.
“This game can make you and bring down your performance at the same time. This game kills, to tell you the truth. I think if they come up, I'm telling you they are going to give Pirates a problem.
“I'm with Pirates in this one – they will beat Chiefs 1-0. Pirates are playing well, they shouldn't be compared to Chiefs. Chiefs have their own problems and Pirates are good.
“Chiefs don't have defenders, their midfield doesn’t link up well with the strikers. So, that's why I'm saying these two boys are the only people with a plan there.
“Chiefs got nothing, to tell you the truth. As we speak, these boys are their only dependents."
