Laffor ready to score against Downs

Chippa United forward Anthony Laffor is looking forward to facing his former team Mamelodi Sundowns today.

The two sides meet for a DStv Premiership clash at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in East London at 15h00.

Laffor spent eight years at Sundowns where he won the CAF Champions League and CAF Super Cup before moving to the Gqeberha-based side this year.

The Chilli Boys' preparations have been disrupted by the departure of Luc Eymael, who only spent one day at training before his contract was cancelled due to the allegations of racism that continue to follow the Belgian.

Chippa United boss Siviwe Mpengesi has since handed the coaching reins to Siyabulela Gwambi on an interim basis.

Gwambi is expected to rely on the experience of the likes of Laffor, Siyabonga Sangweni, Andile Mbenyane and Kurt Lentjies to get his first victory as a head coach at professional level.

Laffor could be key in terms of providing Gwambi with insight and information about his former club when they meet this afternoon.

"I have been in this situation before, when I left SuperSport United to join Mamelodi Sundowns, so for me I have been in these [situations] before," said Laffor about the prospect of facing his former colleagues for the first time.

"I have received messages from some of my former teammates and now some of the Sundowns supporters, all of them positive. They all want me to do my best. They want me to give 100 percent.

"I am professional. I am a Chippa United player so I will be representing Chippa United against Mamelodi Sundowns and I am ready to give 100 percent.

"If I can score, I will score. If I can create, I will create. The game is important for everyone."
