Kaizer Chiefs supporters will have to continue holding their breath to see new signing Anthony Akumu make his club debut.

Akumu's arrival at Naturena was confrmed early last week on a free transfer after leaving ZESCO United at the end of December last year.

The Kenya international midfielder had been training with his new club for a while prior to Chiefs releasing Ghanaian James Kotei, who had to make room in their foreign quota.

But the 27-year-old seems unlikely to make his debut when Amakhosi visit Golden Arrows in Durban on Saturday afternoon (15h30), with no further updates coming from the Department of Home Affairs.

KickOff.com has learnt that there had been system issues at the public service office, resulting in the delay to the issuing of Akumu's work permit.

This has also been the case for Baroka new coach Dylan Kerr, who was announced by his club more than three weeks ago.

'Teddy', as Akumu is known, could eventually get his first run in The Glamour Boys' colours when they next host Royal Eagles in their Nedbank Cup opener at FNB Stadium on February 7.
