Chippa deny AmaZulu point

AmaZulu looked to take advantage of their home ground advantage as they got the match underway in Durban, and applied pressure on the Chippa defence, but the visitors were resolute at the back.

United quickly found their feet and started to play their favoured attacking game under caretaker coach Roger Sikakhane.

The Chilli Boys were rewarded in the 34th minute as they broke away on the counter, and striker George Akpabio did well to set up Mpho Mvelase, who made no mistake against Usuthu goalkeeper Aubrey Mathibe, and gave them the 1-0 lead.

The half-time break couldnt come sooner for the Durban side, as Chippa maintained the momentum after their goal.

AmaZulu caretaker coach Wilfred Mugeyi made a double change at the start of the second half, bringing on Shabalala and Mthiyane in place of Horaeb and Shange.

However, the changes proved ineffective as Chippa held onto their first-half lead and denied Mugeyi's side a point after the second half produced no goals.
