The 25-year-old is currently playing for Usuthu’s reserve team in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge following his demotion for contravening team’s rules. Fullback Bongi Macala had his contract terminated in the same incident.

“I have put my demotion behind my back and am now focused on fighting my way back into the first team,” Gamildien tells KickOff.com.

“It was carelessness and recklessness, but all that is in the past now and I’m here [in the reserve team] to push myself hard and hopefully raise my hand for another chance in the first team as soon as possible.

“No professional player wants to play in the reserve league forever, so playing in this league for me is a wake-up call since I have had my time in the first team in my professional football career so far.

“You can see that there are a lot of promising youngsters in the reserve team doing their best to impress and get the nod from the first team’s technical staff.”

Gamildien joined AmaZulu in January from Bloemfontein Celtic, where he was one of the star players in Phunya Sele Sele’s Telkom Knockout Cup triumph in 2012.
