Ertugral expects more of Rodgers

Rodgers has yet to score for the Urban Warriors since returning to the Mother City on a loan deal from Mamelodi Sundowns in August.

The 28-year-old notably netted 13 PSL goals for Santos in the 2011/12 season.

"Eleazar has not come to the party and it has been a problem up front," Ertugral says.

"But you have to understand he didn't play much football last season."

Ertugral reveals the club aims to strengthen their offensive options, and they may look at recruiting outside of South Africa's borders.

"We are not worried about buying any players but certainly we will look at getting a striker and fortunately we still have one spot available for a foreign player," Ertugral says.

Ajax are still without a win this campaign, as they prop up the League standings with two points from five games, while they lost 2-1 to SuperSport United in the first round of the Telkom Knockout.

Ertugral feels injuries have contributed largely to their miserable start.

"We have had lot of injuries," he says.

"We have had nine players injured and it is always difficult to perform better when some of your top players are not available for selection.

"But I am still happy with the team. Against SuperSport United we showed what this team is capable of doing.

"I mean in the second half it was only Ajax and we could have scored at least six goals," concludes the Turk.
