De Sa: Chiefs a step ahead

De Sa's side will host the Absa Premiership leaders in a top-of-the-table clash at Cape Town Stadium on Sunday, with Amakhosi full of confidence following a 12-game winning streak in all competitions.

De Sa said of facing the recently crowned MTN8 champions: “Chiefs are a team that has improved every year and with [Amakhosi mentor] Stuart Baxter they have really gone on to get better since they won the League two seasons ago.

“They are a quality side and they are probably a step ahead of anybody else in the League at this point in time.

“With each game we test ourselves and who better to measure ourselves with than the team that is probably the most consistent and the best team in the last three years.”

De Sa, though, has reason for optimism given Ajax's 100 percent home record this season, which includes wins over League champions Mamelodi Sundowns (1-0), high-flying Bidvest Wits (3-1) and Free State Stars (2-1), as well as Mpumalanga Black Aces (3-0) in the Telkom Knockout.

“Well we started off playing against Sundowns which was a big test for us, a team that was full of quality and against Wits it was another test,” De Sa said.

“Now we play against Chiefs which is the next step up. We need to be our best without a doubt and hopefully we can put out a good performance and try to get something out of the game which is important for us,” concluded the former Orlando Pirates boss.
