De Sa: Bafana link just a rumour

Rumours have surfaced that Iran boss Carlos Queiroz could make a return to the Bafana hotseat, with De Sa tipped to once again serve as his deputy.

De Sa, however, maintains he has not given such an idea any thought.

“So far this is just a rumour, it’s just a speculation that’s what it is,” De Sa told

“I think it’s something people would like to happen. But on my side all I can say is that it’s something I haven’t thought about. I haven’t spoken to Carlos for three weeks and last time I spoke to him we didn’t talk about this.”

When asked if he would accept a job offer from Queiroz should the ex-Real Madrid mentor replace national team coach Gordon Igesund, De Sa replied: “I will cross that bridge when I get to it.”

The pair previously collaborated when Queiroz led South Africa and Portugal in separate stints. De Sa first worked under Queiroz as a goalkeeper trainer for Bafana before offering technical advice to the 61-year-old during the 2010 World Cup.

SAFA on Monday confirmed Igesund's contract will not be renewed when it expires on 31 August.
