Sundowns to take back Onyango

Premiership

The Ugandan international spent a season on loan at Wits but is due to return to his parent club. Last season Sundowns had inexperienced goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni as a reserve as Wayne Sandilands and Belgian goalkeeper Glenn Verbauwhede were out injured.

KickOff.com also understands that Onyango’s return to Sundowns will force Wits to recall goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane, who was on loan at Mpumalanga Black Aces.

“Onyango is going back to Sundowns and Wits have already informed Aces that they want Jackson back and Aces are affected because they must go out and look for a replacement,” a source close to the player tells KickOff.com.

“But Wits are not worried because they have Moeneeb [Josephs] and Jackson, the only people who are worried here are Aces.”

Sundowns media officer Thulani Thuswa commented: “At the moment all Sundowns players are reporting back for pre-season but an official list will be released later regarding who will be staying or not.”
