Highlands snatch first Absa Prem win

The opening stages of the half proved to be an un-eventful affair, with both sides struggling to carve out chances.

However, Mothobi Mvala converted from the penalty spot to hand the home side the lead after 21 minutes,1-1.

Danny Venter then grabbed the equaliser for Arrows with a well taken free-kick from the edge of the box, with 36 minutes on the clock,1-1.

Their joy was short-lived as Highlands regained the lead with Mvala finding the back of the net three minutes later.

Owen da Gama went into the halftime break with a well-deserved lead after dominating majority of the first half.

Neither side could add to score line as the second half continued as Mvala’s brace still remained the difference.

Owen da Gama made a double sub with Zwane and Ngebo being replaced by Thabo Motlafi and Peter Shalulile respectively.

In the 65th minute, Lindokuhle Mbatha weaved his way into the penalty area before his shot crashed against the upright.

No goals were scored in the second half even after four minutes of additional time the Lions of the North emerged victorious in front of their home supporters.
